Th3. THE THIRD THURSDAY, SYRACUSE'S VISUAL ARTS OPEN
Runs June 21 with a Special Tour and Artist Presentation
SYRACUSE, NY (June 7, 2007) — June's Th3, Syracuse's visual arts open, will feature a special guided tour of venues on Syracuse University's campus and the opportunity to meet local artists. Th3, The Third Thursday, is a wonderful time to browse Syracuse's many art galleries from 5 - 8 PM on June 21 and enjoy a night on the town. Th3 establishes Syracuse as an arts city and makes the visual arts in Syracuse more accessible to the local and regional public.
As a special event for June's Th3, David Prince, Associate Director of SUArt Galleries, along with staff from Light Work and Special Collections Research Center, will be giving a tour of several Th3 venues located on the Syracuse University campus. The tour will begin promptly at 6 PM at SUArt Galleries in Shaffer Art Building on Syracuse University's campus. David Prince will give a guided tour of SUArt Galleries, then walk across campus visiting sites such as "The Herakles" by Antoine Bourdelle and the mural "The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti" by Ben Shahn along the way. The tour will then stop at the Special Collections Research Center in E.S. Bird Library and the photography galleries of Light Work in the nearby Robert B. Menschel Media Center where staff will give a personal introduction to their venues. The guided tour is ideal for people would like to become more familiar with Syracuse University's campus and enjoy the significant and impressive exhibitions that these venues offer.
